BLDEA's AVS Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya aims to combine the best of formal education and the traditional Gurukula system. Founded in 1955 with generous contributions by many philanthropists, the institution has grown over the years to become one of the reputed names in Ayurveda education in the North Karnataka region.
AVS Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya is affiliated to RGUHS, Karnataka and recognised by CCIM and Ministry of AYUSH New Delhi. The institute offers BAMS and PG programmes in Samhita & Siddhanta, Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana, Dravya Guna, Kayachikitsa and Shalya Tantra.
The college has excellent infrastructure with all ten classrooms equipped with information and communication technology facilities. The laboratories include Shareera Rachana, Shareera Kriya, Rasashastra & Bhaishjya Kalpana, Roganindana and Dravyaguna, with museums in all departments.
A well-stocked library is managed by an Integrated Library Management System. Students receive clinical training at the 140-bedded hospital where speciality treatment is offered for major and minor illnesses.
Prakriti has been the most notable basic construct of Ayurvedic health care philosophy. It fundamentally explains the biological specificity operating at cellular and genomics level and is largely responsible for distinctions among individuals.
Saara Pariksha determines the strength of a person based on the excellence of Saptadhatu and Sattva. Physician should not judge strength from body structure alone — small, lean and thin persons may be strong enough. It also helps doctors rightly assess the dose and type of medicine based on patient strength.
